CHIMAY VERTE 150 33CL – Case of 24 Bottles sits within the Chimay range as a trappist beer with a clear Belgian brewing character. It is particularly well suited to poultry, mild cheeses and lighter meat dishes, while proper glassware and serving it cool rather than ice-cold will allow more aroma and flavour to develop. Its higher strength makes it best suited to slower drinking and a more considered Belgian-style serve.

mynie –
Dark gold with a bright white head. The profile is distinctly spicy and hop-forward for a strong Belgian ale, with Saaz-like character, sweetness and a firm aromatic finish.
Brutaltruth –
Orange-gold with soft foam and attractive lacing. Bread malt, coriander, pear and floral hops combine in a smooth palate that finishes sweet but reasonably dry.
willelw –
Golden with a large fluffy head. Malt, bread, citrus, coriander and floral hop notes combine with a rounded, full mouthfeel and moderate bitterness.
mkh012 –
Amber-orange in the glass with lemon, lavender, white pepper and yeast on the nose. Floral citrus and peppery hops make this a complex, relatively dry strong ale.
Hephaistos –
Light amber-gold with herbal and floral aromas, a rounded sweetness and a surprisingly discreet alcohol presence for its strength.
jjamadorphd –
Attractive in the glass with a malty aroma and a crisp mouthfeel. The hop character is more prominent than expected, making it a distinctive member of the Chimay range.
BBD Review Summary –
The hop character gives this extra lift, bringing floral and citrus notes through a rich but relatively dry strong-ale structure.
Belgian Beer Review Summary –
Aromatic Belgian yeast, spice and bright fruit combine with a firm bitterness that separates it from the classic Chimay range.
Flanders Beer Notes –
There is a lot to like here: aromatic and well put together, showing more depth than a straightforward lager-style beer. Well suited to sharing from the larger bottle formats.
Food Pairing Notes –
Well balanced and characterful, with enough complexity to reward a slower drink. The balance is the key point here; nothing feels too forced. The finish becomes more interesting as the beer warms slightly.
Lambic Notes –
A very enjoyable bottle: a solid introduction to the brewery, with enough personality to stand out in a mixed case. It has enough individuality to make it worth seeking out again. One for a proper glass rather than drinking straight from the bottle.
Food Pairing Notes –
This comes across as an enjoyable Belgian beer with a clean structure and a satisfying finish. It has enough character to stand on its own without food.
Brouwerij Notes –
A solid introduction to the brewery, with enough personality to stand out in a mixed case. The balance is the key point here; nothing feels too forced. It has enough character to stand on its own without food.
