ARTEVELDE GRAND CRU 33CL – Case of 24 Bottles sits within the Artevelde range as a belgian speciality beer with a clear Belgian brewing character. It is particularly well suited to stews, roast meats and mature cheeses, while proper glassware and serving it cool rather than ice-cold will allow more aroma and flavour to develop.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Dark malt, caramel, dried fruit and soft belgian yeast.
Palate: Rounded malt with toffee, bread crust and dark-fruit character.
Finish: Smooth and warming with lingering malt, fruit and gentle bitterness.

Abbey Ale Notes –
What stands out here is how best taken slowly; there is plenty of fruit, yeast and warmth beneath the bright appearance. A touch richer than my usual preference, though it is very well made. It has enough character to stand on its own without food.
Bottle Notes –
A very enjoyable bottle: best taken slowly; there is plenty of fruit, yeast and warmth beneath the bright appearance. Not the most immediately approachable style for me, but there is plenty of character. One for a proper glass rather than drinking straight from the bottle.
Wallonia Beer Notes –
There is a lot to like here: powerful yet well balanced, with the strength carried by carbonation and spice. It has enough individuality to make it worth seeking out again. This would work particularly well with cheese, charcuterie or a substantial main course.
Cellar Notes –
A strong example of the style: strong, aromatic and deceptively smooth, with spice, fruit and a dry finish. The finish becomes more interesting as the beer warms slightly.
Belgian Beer Notes –
Best taken slowly; there is plenty of fruit, yeast and warmth beneath the bright appearance. The balance is the key point here; nothing feels too forced. It is better cool than ice-cold, especially if you want the aroma to come through.
Style Notes –
A very enjoyable bottle: a generous golden beer with ripe fruit, peppery spice and a clean finish. It has enough individuality to make it worth seeking out again. It is better cool than ice-cold, especially if you want the aroma to come through.
